The Wind in the Willows Collage.
After looking at Anastassia Ellias's Work i wanted to do something very hands on and creative i did consider doing the toilet roll idea but didn't want to directly steal her idea. so instead i did a little collage of Ratty and Mr Mole in the rowing boat on the lake with the trees surrounding them.

Anastassia Elias.
When i was doing some artist research for the Wind in the Willows project Istubbled across Anastassias's amazing work with toilet rolls. I think these pieces of work are really amazing and look great, she has really come up with a very unique idea for collaging, it gave me an idea to create my own collage.

Type.

| All text including spine title |
I then moved on to creating some type ideas, as I hadnt done anything for the title and the deadline was closing in on me. I always like to hand do my type then scan it in I have always done this as I believe that hand lettered text looks so much nicer then any text you'll find on the computer or online. I messed around scribbled a few ideas down chucked a few onto the computer and made them look super neat and tidy. I'm really pleased with the final lettering i decided to go with especially for the quote on the back i have literally fallen in love with it and I know that sounds rather modest but I just can't help it.

Badger House Drawing.
One of my favourite parts in the book is when Ratty and Mr Mole get lost in the snow and just as there about to give up they stubble upon Badgers house i wanted to give the feel of paw prints in the snow and Mr badgers house hidden beneath the trees, branches and snow. The drawing didn't turn out quite like i wanted i didn't do the lines thick enough so when i scanned it in and lived traced it, it basically disappeared. I had a hole idea of having Badgers door in the bottom right hand corner of the book with a tree trunk gong up all the right hand side of the book creating a border to then have the text underneath and ink splatting's to represent snow and then to have the little paw prints all over the back page in a footpath fading away into the darkness. unfortunately I didnt have enough time to get all of this done but I will try again in my own time over the holidays.

Alisa Brainard.
I like the way Alisa layers everything on top of each other to give it a sense of being 3D i like the colours she uses and the amount of detail she manages to put into her collages, i'd like to try this idea with my Wind in the Willows book cover as i think it looks great.

Steve Simpson.
I decided to do some Artist research to gain a little more inspiration and view other artist's ways of presenting their work. Steve Simpsons work was really creative and colourful and i really liked some of his sketch book pieces as they were really quirky and free.

Getting Creative.
I thought I would do this project differently to how i normally would I decided to just draw loads of random things that I associated with the book in a few different medias so that I had a lot of variation in my sketchbook, to be honest I enjoyed doing it this way more as it really helped my ideas flow and for me to come up with plenty of good ideas. From these sketches i moved onto furthering my development.
